Using LightWave to create UV maps for military assets

Kevin Phillips uses node-based surfacing for hard body CG assets

This video explains the process I went through with node-based surfacing to create worn military-style textures quickly for hard-body CG objects, and then how to bake them out to image maps for use in other software (and also game assets).

With a very short production time frame, the aim of this exercise was to be able to mass produce reasonably realistic texture maps for a large number of assets without painting them by hand.

A little experimentation with various nodes and settings make this technique ideal for quickly producing a variety of different looks - rusty surfaces, charred surfaces and more. Its also a lot of fun.
