The first Create Expo for LightWave at UK-based Vision West Nottinghamshire College was a resounding success! Our own Lino Grandi and LightWave experts throughout the UK (from studios to indie artists) shared their knowledge and excitement of using LightWave for all types of content creation. The brainchild of Interactive Media Tutor Anthony Hall, the goal of the event was to nurture the next generation of 3D artists and students while also bringing together industry professional for a best practice showcase. Vision West Nottinghamshire College, UK is hosting a FREE event that brings together top LightWave talent in the UK to discuss and share the benefits of using LightWave 3D software for everything from gaming to product design to 2D illustrations. They will also share tips for using LightWave in production, lighting, rendering and more. Great door prizes will be offered, along with an opportunity to see firsthand why LightWave is just what you need to get the job done.

The LightWave 3D Group has launched a new design challenge that offers a treasure trove of terrific prizes for the winners! LightWave 3D artists will have the opportunity to participate and win in two design areas - ART and ARCHVIZ. The caveat is that all entries must incorporate Mechanical Spring objects into their designs to qualify and be entered in the challenge. There are no limitations to your designs. Use your imagination, be really outrageous or magnificiently realistic.
The Spring Into Summer Challenge was originally slated to end June 30, 2015 but due to overwhelming requests from artists, we are extending the deadline to July 31, 2015.

For the second year in a row, the 3D community has nominated LightWave as a contender for the CG Awards by 3D World magazine. This year, we are excited to announce that LightWave 2015 is nominated in two categories: Software Update and Software Innovation. We would also like to recognize Juanjo Gonzalez for his nomination for the 3D Hall of Fame in recognition for his work with OctaneRender and LightWave 3D. Judging concludes in a few months and we look forward to the results!

The LightWave 3D Group has announced a call for LightWave 3D content for its 2015 show reel. Work artists, students, and studios is welcome. All the details of how to submit your work for consideration is inside. All content must be received by Monday August 31, 2015 to be considered for inclusion.
