We ring in the holiday season with the release of LightWave 2015, which offers new features and enhancements to make workflow easy and fast. You can also try a full-feature trial of LightWave 2015 free for 30 days. The artist spotlight shines brightly this month on Oscar Palma of Spain, a self-taught artist who relies on LightWave to deliver projects around the globe. The 2014 LightWave holiday challenge is officially underway--read the rules and get ready to compete for the bounty--LightWave 2015, ChronoSculpt and NevronMotion. We also spotlight some pretty great LightWave-based videos from NESIAC of Seoul, Korea, Anti-Gravity from Jeff Blythe, and a One Direction promo video from Mark Warner. Lastly, 3DTotal interviews Chris Jones to get more insight to how he uses LightWave to create extremely realistic digital humans. See you in 2015!

We roll into October with new bundles for OctaneRender, NevronMotion and ChronoSculpt that are designed to boost your productivity and save you money in the process. The incredible success of our $695 2D/3D Crossgrade to LightWave 11.6 promotion, has us  offering up a Halloween treat -- we are extending the offer to October 31, 2014. This month we also highlight some incredible projects created with LightWave. Have a look at the 3D art created by Lorenzo Zitta (our October Power Artist) and Chris Jones, who has one-upped his last eye animation with the creation of Ed (watch the video, you will be amazed!)  We also announce a new 3D feature film Kickstarter campaign from Jeff Scheetz, founder of DAVE School, that is set to be created with 100% LightWave. We are also pleased to reveal that NevronMotion won a 2014 CGAward from 3D World Magazine as most innovative plugin for 2014, and that 3D Artist has published a new LightWave e-book in iTunes. We round out  the month with videos and tutorials that are meant to inspire and educate.

This month we spotlight two studios who worked together to create an award-winning medical animation using LightWave 3D. Then we turn to helping you master LightWave, with a wealth of video tutorials that cover topics like CG Water and Light Painting Effects to working with Sub-Ds and Lighting for Concept Art. There is a new issue of LightWave 3D magazine (available online or as a PDF download)—filled with everything from Sharknado II and the upcoming sci-fi dramedy Space Station 76—and how they used LightWave to create their onscreen magic, to  in-depth video tutorials with links (in the online version) to downloadable assets from the tutorials. Add in the online premiere of the animated short Abiogenesis (created in LightWave), artist video profile of Meni Things, and the announcement of the LightWave 3D Space Command Challenge winners, and we have put together a month full of awesome just for you.

Summer is in full swing and we've uncovered ssome fresh new things being create with and developed for LightWave 3D software. First we'll shine the spotlight on Salif N'diaye, a talented Ivory Coast freelance artist living in France who is using LightWave to create imagery for high-profile ad agencies and  some of the biggest brands  in the world. We also focus on LA-based Ghostlight who used LightWave to design a robot for its indie spoof of "Robocop." Want tutorials? Ian Thompson has a four part video tutorial focusing on camera matching in LightWave, and SimplyLightWave.com gets a new look with new tutorials for LightWave 11.6 in a library of over 350. Add in new product announcements for LightWave (Oculus Rift and Simply Plants) and there's lots to see and discover this July.

Let's start with a behind the scenes of a "Category 5," a made for TV movie  filled with LightWave visual effects from NY-based Platinum Platypus. You'll also find four video tutorials, covering everything from flocking fruit and camera mapping in LightWave to playing with fire using TurbulenceFD and making faces with FaceShift. We also do a call out for content and a chance to be featured in the SIGGRAPH 2014 LightWave Live Stream, sponsor CGtrader's Flora and Fauna Contest, and uncover "George Activated" a cute animated short created with LightWave.

We head into spring 2014 highlighting the work of  LightWave Power Artist Steve Mcardle. Not only is Mcardle a fine artist, illustrator, sculptor, animator and director; he’s also an incredible LightWave 3D artist. Check out his work and we think you'll agree. We also go behind the scene of the 2014 VES award winning "Space Shuttle Atlantis" project to see how LightWave played a key role in the creative pipeline of this istunning project. Filter Film also shareshow it used LightWave in the creation of the heavy metal animated video for Messugah's "I am Colossus" music video. In the news, the HDR Light Studio Live Connection plugin for LightWave is released along with video tutorials DJ Waterman created for the program. We also discovered "Just add Milk," a new blog that offers up everything from barebone templates and Python tips to scripts, libraries and cheat sheets for LightWave. WTools3D offers a 20% discount this month on LWCAD 4.5.1 and David Aguero goes into space with a LightWave tutorial.

February has been a month of sheer greatness for the LightWave community. We have extended the $500 off the full version of LightWave 11.6 promotion through March 2014; existing LightWave customers can upgrade for $495 (a savings of $200). We also shine the artist spotlight on Jason Allen Lee and his use of LightWave to create some pretty incredible advertisements and product videos for Rocky Elements work boots. Next we send out our congrats to the LightWave artists who worked on the 2014 VES Award winning "Space Shuttle Atlantis" project, follow the win with a behind the scenes story of the "Atlantis" project from Digital Media World and you understand why it was a winner. Get inspired with LightWave artist Chris Jones's latest WIPs, his newest video garnering more than one million YouTube  views, and Steve White's in-depth video tutorial for creating a dolphin using SubDs in LightWave. Speaking of inspiration, longtime LightWave artist Khalid Al-Muharraqi and his father artist Abdulla Al-Muharraqi will be honored at the "Father and Son" art exhibition opening in Bahrain next month. We round out the month with a call for social activism and motion graphics reels for our NAB 2014 show reel.

We ring in the new year with news of educational pricing for ChronoSculpt and NevronMotion for LightWave 11.6 software. Follow that news with news of a 2014 Academy Award® contender "Possessions," by Shuhei Morita created using LightWave 3D, and the year is off to a terrific start! Then we shine the Artist Spotlight on Paolo Zambrini whose incredible architectural visualizations created in LightWave are designed to evoke emotion in clients. We go viral with Artistomenis "Meni" Tsirbas and his love of using LightWave to make people gasp on YouTube. Our 2013 Holiday Challenge winners are revealed and extra winners are announced, PropShop delivers props for high-profile films with LightWave and 3D printing. and 3DTotal publishes a LightWave tutorial for creating and lighting products. We close out the month with a video tutorial from jennifer Hachigian that shows how to use the new Raycasting feature in LightWave 11.6.
